Bell County Traffic tickets?
Q. I'm no longer living in Texas. In 2005 I got pulled over for not wearing a seat belt. I was 8 months pregnant at the time. The officer did not write me a ticket off the seat belt. He wrote me a ticket for no registration, and no insurance. I was in a friends a car, and I didn't know where this info was. My friend and I had a falling out, and I never got that info from her. My court date was actually the day I went into labor. I just got a bill (it's now 2009) from Texas saying I owe $1500 for failure to appear, no reg, no insurance. What are my options? I'm even wondering if they would extradite me back to Texas for this?

A. They will not extradite you to Texas for a traffic ticket. You might write a letter to the court explaining your reasons for missing the court date. If you had gone to court you would have paid a $10. fine for lack of insurance. If you are caught driving in Texas you will go to jail if you have not taken care of this fine.

A. You have documented your point well. How to deal with the problem has not been solved. Once the USA allows someone to work in this country, it is practically impossible to deny health care to that person and his/her family. It is very dangerous to have people carrying illnesses. The population would be exposed to those illnesses if they are contagious, and how would we know if they are contagious if the individual is not seen by a doctor? So, to make it short, control the immigration, both legal and illegal, reform the health care system and also make that system flexible enough, so it does not take an arm and a leg to provide simple services.

Q. Warrant for my arrest for failure to provide insurance? In July of 2004 I was leaving El Paso Texas on my home to Florida, when I got pulled over for not wearing my seat belt. I don't remember, but I somehow wound up with a citation for the lack of seat belt, and failure to provide insurance. It is now 5 years later, I have renewed my license at least once, registered a car and rejoined the Army. All with my driving record clean. 4 days ago I got a letter in the mail from a collection agency claiming I had three citations. After my wife tried to get in touch with the county courthouse, she was informed that the number she received was the wrong number. A. Did you actually speak to someone at the county, or was it via a number given in the collection agency letter? Many of those are scams. Unpaid ticket lists can be obtained by anyone who knows how. Then a letter is sent (sometimes posing as the court and other times as a collection agency.) Who did they say to put as payee on the $1,070+/- check? Sometimes they will use the correct name, (clerk of courts, El Paso County, TX, but with a P.O. Box for mailing, rather than the actual street address of the court.) but checks are fairly easy for professionals to alter. (and cashing it across the border makes the crook untraceable.)
