What is an assessment for chemical dependency?
Q. My university lists as one of their punishments for marijuana possession, in their words, "assessment for chemical dependency." I wasn't able to find more information about it in their policies. Does this mean it's a drug test? If it were, wouldn't they just say drug test?
Asked by lunesca - Tue Mar 27 21:18:25 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It is a university, honey. They like to say things very loftily, such as, "assessment for chemical dependency" when they mean drug test. Flexing vocabulary leads to higher education. Possessing marijuana just leads to higher. LOL!

Is drug dependency considered as a disease?
Q. My cousin Trevor, I think, is already drug dependent. He can't live without cocaine (or so he says). He's having daily fights with his mother because of his addiction. She reckons that taking in cocaine is like inflicting disease on yourself. Is she right? I mean, is drug dependency really a disease?

A. According to my research, drug dependency is not a disease but a state of mind. The drug has certain effects on the abuser which causes his brain not to function properly. He feels like he can't live without cocaine when in fact it is better to live without cocaine. Try to persuade Trevor into getting treatment. It will help him overcome his dependency and it will help your aunt feel better about everything.

What are the chances of AF dependency waiver approved?
Q. We have twins, which means we have one child too many to enlist in the Air Force. My husband's recruiter said that shouldn't be a problem, and that it should only take about a month to get approved. What are the chances of it getting denied? We don't want to get our hopes up, and then get denied b/c we have 2 kids.
Asked by Jessica G - Thu Feb 12 15:40:41 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Im active duty Air Force and worked at the recruiting station a bit. Your chance of being denied is very slim if the recruiter filled out the paper work properly. It will be reviewed by MEPs and the recruiter's superior. He may also have a better chance of being accepted if he's willing to enter an 'OPEN' category for his AFSC. Good luck and I hope to see your husband around!
