From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. A fountain pen is a pen that contains a reservoir of water-based liquid ink. If it uses ink cartridges instead of having a built-in ink reservoir, it is often called cartridge pen. From the reservoir or the ink cartridge, the ink is drawn through a feed to the nib and then to the paper via a combination of gravity and capillary action, so most fountain pens require no pressure to write. Filling the built-in reservoir with ink usually involves operating an internal mechanism which sucks ink from a bottle through the nib into the reservoir. These mechanisms are typically pistons or rubber sacs. Cartridge pens are filled by simply replacing the empty ink cartridge with a new factory-filled one. These Parker Duofolds from the 1920s used the Lucky Curve feed system and self-filled using a "button filler". They were quite long; nearly 7 inches long when posted. From Wikipedia under the

From Google Blog Search: "fountain pens" What is the brand name of the fountain pens that students use in Germany? Q. I lived in Germany in 1988/1989 and attended second and third grade there. In school, we all used fountain pens. I'm looking for those pens now - not fancy, overpriced fountain pens that are available in America. They were plastic and came in many designs, and were refillable with short ink cartridges. What brand names should I search for? Asked by lillielil - Mon Feb 25 13:51:28 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. You can try "Lamy" or "Pelikan". Those are the most famous fountain pens in schools in germany. I found the english-speaking site for Pelikan: And for Lamy: or (with prices): But I don't know if they send their product to US, just try it. Asked by Juan - Mon Aug 31 02:36:05 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Could cause damage as described. Some osmium is converted to osmium tetroxide, the main source for the contact to the environment. Osmium tetroxide is highly volatile and penetrates skin readily, and is very toxic by inhalation, ingestion, and skin contact. Not sure the concentration in the pen nib, but is best not to mess with it by heating. Probably cause some weird cancer or leukemia in 10-120 years.
