Adored Pride and Prejudice, but couldn't stand anything else by Jane Austen. The Elsie Dinsmore novels were terrible, but I devoured them anyway. You don't know the circumstances of the sale. Perhaps the Maruzen company fell on hard times and had to sell it. It may be correct that the sale price was higher, but I can find no mention of it anywhere. Maybe it was a sealed bid with a request to keep it confidential.
